  • On July 11, 2007, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Assistant Secretary for Policy and International Affairs Karen Harbert addressed the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Energy and National Security Program to highlight President Bush's initiatives to advance global energy security and further international energy cooperation. Assistant Secretary Harbert highlighted U.S. leadership at the G8 Summit, the APEC Energy Ministers Meeting, the U.S. -China Strategic Economic Dialogue, and the International Energy Agency Ministerial.   • Assistant Secretary for Policy and International Affairs Karen Harbert hits the road to promote the President’s Advanced Energy Initiative. Assistant Secretary Harbert meets with Executive Director Dr. Imad Mahawili, as well as professors and staff of the Michigan Alternative and Renewable Energy Resource Center in Muskegon, Michigan.

  • DOE Report to the EPA on the Renewable Fuel Program, February 2006.  Under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPACT 2005), the Department of Energy is required to conduct a study for the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.  This study is to assess whether the renewable fuel program, as specified in Section 1501 of EPACT 2005, will likely result in significant adverse impact on consumers in 2006 on a national, regional, or State basis.


  • National Security Role of International Energy Requirements, February 2006. A DOE Report, in consultation with the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, as required under Section 1837 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
