July 1 and September 1 Reporting Deadlines
FAQ: The guidelines state that "Entity reports that have not been verified by a 3rd party must be submitted
no later than July 1 for emissions, and emission reductions, occurring during the previous calendar year. Reports
that have been verified externally must be submitted by September 1." Is there any flexibility in these due dates?
Answer: These deadlines specify the earliest dates that may be used by the Energy Information Administration
(EIA) to determine those entity reports that would be summarized in the EIA's annual summary report for the previous
year, normally completed at the end of the calendar year or early the following year. [For example, EIA's annual report
summarizing entity reports on 2007 (as well as prior year) emissions and reductions is likely to be issued in late 2008
or early 2009.] EIA may extend the deadlines for the submittal of entity reports, either to accommodate its own
requirements or to permit additional time for reporting entities. There is no requirement that reporting entities
meet the annual deadlines set by the guidelines will simply have their data included in the following year's annual s
ummary report. Reports reviewed and accepted by the EIA will be made available on EIA's website as soon as possible.
