FAQs 2.2

Reporting Carbon Stock Increases, even if Output is Declining

FAQ: Do the output-related restrictions on the reporting (and registration) of absolute emission reductions apply to entities reporting carbon stock increases on forested lands?

Answer: No.  Because changes in carbon stocks are calculated using a method that is not conditioned on increases in the entity’s economic output, entities whose output has declined may still report and register reductions based on increases in the carbon stock of forested lands.
